Australia

Before departing for school in Australia, the student should prepare the following:

  • Prepare basic essentials such as clothes, household items and medication so that you will have them while looking for a local place to purchase additional needs. Clothing should be appropriate for the climate of your destination.
  • Purchase health insurance for the duration of your time in Australia.
  • Scan, photocopy or take photos of important documents such as medical and immunization forms, travel and health insurance, academic history, and letter of acceptance.
  • Have at least AUD330 ready before departure. Also contact your bank to make sure your credit card can be used overseas, or prepare an international credit card.
  • Check with your phone provider if your mobile plan can be used overseas for an extended period of time, or purchase a SIM card that can be used in Australia.
  • Purchase a wall adaptor for chargers. Australia uses AS/NZS 3112 connectors.
  • Have the location of the local embassy at hand.
  • Have contact information for your school and your place of stay during the duration of your program, and prepare for pick up or self-transport from the airport to your residence.
  • Don’t forget your passport and other documentation!

Canada

Before departing for school in Canada, the student should prepare the following:
