Geographic Location
The school lies in the historic city Lancaster, close to the Lake District and Morecambe Bay. The extensive grounds, split over two sites, are located next to the picturesque Williamson Park, with its landmark Ashton Memorial. It is under 2½ hours by train from London and is on a direct train line from Manchester airport.
School Facilities
The lower site is made up of some of the most historic buildings dating back to the Victorian era, including Old School which houses the school Library, Sixth Form Centre, Drama Studios and teaching rooms. Other facilities include the Cricket Pavilion, Design and Technology Centre, Science Centres, Art Studios, the Gymnasium and Swimming Pool and the Music studios and Recital Room.
Academic Results
Lancaster Royal Grammar is consistently placed in the top 2% of UK state schools at GCSE and A-level, with around 15 leavers annually going on to Oxford and Cambridge. In 2020, over 78% of all A-Level results were graded A*-B.
Extra-curricular Activities
The list of societies on offer is constantly changing to reflect the interests of staff and pupils, and has included clubs dedicated to baking, chess, cross country, climbing, Fair Trade, drama, geography, debating, Mandarin, RAF, coding, SciFi and fantasy, and poker.
