Northcote College

Established in 1877, Northcote College is a recognised institution of teaching excellence. The school aims to maximise student achievement, both academic and personal, and it does so through opportunity, experience, expectation and support. It recognises that self-esteem, character, people skills and adaptability are important for success in life. Diverse learning opportunities increase overall student engagement, enjoyment, learning and achievement. University of Auckland trainee teachers learn to teach there.


Geographic Location

Situated on Auckland’s North Shore, the College grounds are filled with trees and gardens and are within 10 minutes of Auckland City and the beaches of the North Shore.

School Facilities

Northcote’s facilities include a gymnasium, heated swimming pool, specialist teaching areas, all weather playing area, music block with practice rooms, computer rooms, school library, a well-equipped video suite, and technology workshop.


Northcote has high expectations for student success, which has led to a proud record of outstanding achievement in national examinations; in 2018, students achieved regional and national success in a range of areas such as Drama, English, Business Studies and Spanish language. Students can select their study programme from a variety of subjects.

Extra-curricular Activities 

Extracurricular activities cater to the students’ broad range of interests, and span from performing arts, including the annual Talent Quest, the Arts Showcase, and sound and lighting team, to sport, service and cultural events.
